SHIPBOARD OIL SPILL CONTROL KITS

Description

The Shipboard Oil Spill Control Kits are designed to meet the OPA ‘90 U.S. Coast Guard Regulation 33 CFR Part 155 - Discharge Removal Equipment for Vessels Carrying Oil and the California Oil Spill Contingency Regulations CA 1644.  The OPA ‘90 regulation requires oil tankers operating in U.S. territorial waters to have oil discharge removal equipment onboard for on-deck oil spills.  Vessels with an overall length of 400 feet or less must be able to contain and remove on-deck oil spills of at least 7 barrels (294 gallons or 1111 liters).  Vessels with an overall length of 400 feet or greater must be able to contain and remove on-deck oil spills of at least 12 barrels (504 gallons or 1905 liters).  The State of California in the United States has implemented new regulations (CA 1644) for non-tanker vessels with regard to Oil Spill Contingency Plans. These new regulations require the vessel to have the specific equipment available in conjunction with a documented plan.

This consists of three containers and is designed to absorb up to 12 barrels of oil.  Two containers are identical to the Standard Oil Spill Control Kit and the additional container holds:
